Harold

" Harold of York "A Black Knight" "

In The old town of york, brought up by the duke, a strong young man with great talent was raised with the finest of knights clothing, and was trained from a boy to be a knight. When he was old enough he started to attend the great jousts, and then went on to join the battle in the Arab countries as a crusader. When he returned home, now about forty three, Harold was a strong honorable knight, with nothing to do with all of his might and strength, and was called upon by Leofwin of Lindnis to become a black knight. Seeing the cause just and noble, and seeing that they would need a third player, he joined the league, and received a set of black armor. But wished to retain of of his own armor pieces given by his father

Saer

Saer "The Doom Saer" Black Knight

" Saer "The lonely story of Saer"

Saer was born into the military, practically bred for battle and for fight. At the age of twenty he was skilled with short blades, and could slash and strike faster then one could see with the blink of their eye. He never really had a family though, just bounced around from one military camp to the other, and eventually he was sent to join an army. He enjoyed the long skirmishes with enemies, he knew nothing about who he was serving, or to what end, he was just told to fight, and this was great sport to him. He gained the name amongst soldiers: “The Doom Saer”

As he rose in strength and power, he was found to be the elite of the force, and was getting orders from the chief commander to attack fortresses, and strongholds, a much more challenging feat then the ones he had faced before. But he conquered all in his way; seemingly single handedly at most times, and rose to the top. But one day he got a strange request, it was to burn down a town, of peasants? This was a very outlandish request for Saer, he brought the end for his enemies, who were strong and battle hungry, not week peasants with children and animals. But the orders were final and could not be changed, so he figured this one time would be fine, then he could get back to the sport.

So Saer searched out the small town before the attack, watched the young children play, the woman take care of their babies… but where were the men? They had all gone off into the war, and they were all seemingly unaware a war was even going on. He could not bare the site, and when he came to his army he signaled them to return back to the siege huts, but the second in command reminded him that this attack was a direct command from the King, and that there was no backing out. When Saer refused to lead the men, they marched towards the town behind the second in command, but this tore Saer’s heart, and his attacked, the lower general, violently slicing him with an array of attacks from his two short blades. The men took up arms, and sayeth treason, so Saer slayed all two thousand men single handedly, the siege surveyors reported this to the king, putting him on the run…

Saer had no where to go, he had lived all of his life for the military and its purposes, but after that, he felt more for the citizen then he had for any kingdom he had ever fought for, and felt that war was a bringer of destruction to this true life he discovered. So he walked for miles into enemy territory, having no armor or emblems, as did his troops, he was not recognized as an enemy to the bordering defenses.

He finally stopped, and dropped out of exhaustion and hunger. When off in the distance he spotted a small brick building. Not knowing weather it was his mind was playing games with him or not, he started to make his way towards it, and eventually was picked up by an old, gruff looking man.

This man, who said he was a metal smith made him some food, and inquired of his journey, he cautiously told the man his tale, half unaware he telling him all about his army and goals. The black smith told him about someone who might share the same type of goals and situations as him, and they waited till a man named Leofwin returned from his journey.

After meeting the black knight, Saer was highly intrigued, and inquired about helping the cause. Leofwin trained with him to make sure he was up to the challenge, and after a couple of missions together, Saer received his own suit of black armor, but requested no horse, but rather he’d operated on foot. Becoming a black Knight.

Lindinis

The dark knight of: Lindinis.

" Leofwin of Lindinis (The plight of Leofwin) "

As a boy Leofwin was raised in a large estate of Lindinis, not knowing anything besides the rich side of life. He grew up and made his occupation after his honorable father as a merchant. His business and new home flourished; in the course of 10 years he married and had three children and was renown through out his father’s estate.

At the age of forty two, Leofwin, was called by the King to war, which he could not deny, for he was a very honorable man. So He said goodbye to his family and his estate members and rode to meet the king and his armies. When he reached the battle camps, a commander, who had been close friends with his father, met him with the highest of esteem. He was given a special armor, full thick and silver, worn only by the generals themselves, a long battle spear and several curved swords. His training was extensive, for he was a very large brutish man, being almost 7 feet tall in stature he towered and put fear into other men. He wouldn’t speak much before his training sessions, but would come out victorious in any of his duals, and became a master of horseback and ground fighting, and after a year or so of battle hardening, he went to fight a long ten years war.

After much fighting and hardship, he returned victorious, with many battle scars, proud, a tad bitter, but happier than ever to go home to his family an honorable protector of his father’s land.

But upon Leofwin's return, he saw that his defense was misplaced, and the whole estate laid in ruins. He went to the old ruined keep, only to find every one of his family’s bodies reduced to remains, left tied a series of supportive columns, burnt to death, now blackened to an almost unrecognizable state. Despair and anger filled his heart.

How could he let this happen, how could he be so fed up in another land, fighting the wars of the king? So he had his mind made up: first he would seek revenge on the ones who had done this, then he would defend all of the lands against this great injustice. He saddled up onto his silver armored horse once again, mounted with his silver armor weapons, and supplies, and rode off in search of these villains.

Leofwin searched from town to town, day and night, trying to discover what happened to his fathers estate, but one town to the next the same story was told and retold, they saw a small band of armed men streaming across the kingdom valley, enter the estate, then leave, heading back towards the heartland. But how could this be possible? Towards the castle, and the King? Surely the King, who had been the first to return from war because of financial problems, would have had the heads of these men! But he had gotten no such word of these intruders.

So he rode to the castle and main estate of the king to look for answers. He came into the king, and to his surprise came into him dressed in royal robes, and drinking wine. Since when had the King changed his domineer so violently? For he, before the war, was a very meek, and servant-some King who was rarely in the castle, and very seldom sitting upon his throne for more than a few minutes. The king scoffed at his questioning, saying that while he was gone his men had taken excellent care of the kingdom and that Leofwin was mistaken about the intruders.

Now Leofwin was indignant. He stormed out of the castle and marched ragingly towards his black steed. Then a shady looking man, dressed in a shaggy robe approached him and bowed before him. He asked of what services he had of him, and the shady man had been a spy, unhappy about the way the king was running the country. And he told him everything. The King being way low on money at his early return was desperate. Leofwin’s father’s estate was the richest in all the land, and the King decided he wanted to tax it as such. But his father being a man of dignity, prized his hard earned money, and decided one month that he had given enough. This lack of money made the king greedy and power hungry, and he sent his own men to go and take hold of his fathers estate.

At the sound of this news, Leofwin stood in shock, awe, and with feelings of betrayal. He opened his mouth barely as to ask more, but the shady man stopped him saying he shouldn’t have told him these things in the open streets. But it was too late, of rained a shot of arrows, piercing the shady man, and a few bouncing off of Leofwin’s armor. Angered, he jumped on his horse and rode towards his father’s ruined estate, this was now a double sided war, against villains attacking helpless citizens, and a new greedy King who was also a danger to them, yes, his own kingdom…

At his arrival to his old father’s estate, he found the wreckage pulled away, and new buildings starting to form, revenge rattled in his heart, but how could he achieve it now? His estate was lost, and now he was banned from his own kingdom, made wealthy by his family’s long hard lives. He searched his memory for a place to go. And then remembered, his old resourceful friend; the master metal smith of Lindinis. Though he was a good friend of his father’s, he doubted he would have fallen under the kings siege, because he made most of the armors for his generals, not to mention the kings armor. So he rode to the old man’s metal shop, not two miles from the estate, and sure enough it still stood, the old brick metal shop.

Leofwin rode to it, told his great horse to stay, then thumped on the door. Then opened up the old man, very happy and surprised to see him he welcomed him in, and implored him to take his heavy silver armor off and take a rest in his home and workshop. So he did and took a seat at the mans table, where he was presented with a meal reserved by commoners for knights and visiting Lords. The smith worked as Leofwin ate, and they both talked. He explained his long story to his old friend, explaining why he was still alive, and why his father’s estate was now mulch. This angered the metal smith, and he swore he would help him in anyway he possibly could, and do whatever he could secretly, subtly and carefully to put the kings troops at a disadvantage. And then he remembered one of his secret projects he had been working on. He shuffled to the back of his workshop and cranked a couple of levers, and down from a system of pulleys came a shining, black fierce armor. For twenty years the man had been perfecting it; the lightest toughest armor in all the land, made of a rare black metal found in a distant enemy territory, from the war it had wound its way back to his workshop. He now had a base support of which to work of, for him was built a stable looking stay for him to hid, and now, Leofwin, clothed in his new armor, as well as his horse in the same type, and he rode on as, the black knight of Lindinis.
